Everyday services across the island cover visa and legal work, banking, laundry, repairs, schools, veterinary care and trades for long-stay residents.
Phuket has a large resident and long-stay population, so the everyday service trade is deep and easy to reach. Visa agents, immigration consultants and law firms handle extensions, retirement and marriage visas, work permits, company registration and property conveyancing, concentrated in Phuket Town, Chalong and Cherng Talay.
Banking, currency exchange, insurance brokers and accountancy offices are mostly in Phuket Town and the larger resort centres, with exchange booths in every tourist area. Laundries, tailors, key cutters, phone and computer repair shops, and motorcycle and car workshops are spread through every district, with the heavier trades clustered along the bypass and the Chao Fa roads.
For families and residents, the island carries several international schools, mostly in the Thalang, Cherng Talay and Kathu areas, along with veterinary clinics, pet boarding, gyms, language schools and childcare. Utilities, internet providers, removals, air-conditioning servicing, pest control and pool maintenance all have established local operators. Most of these businesses work in English as a matter of routine, though rates and turnaround are generally better away from the main resort strips.
