Phuket has a large private hospital sector alongside dental and cosmetic clinics, resort spas, Thai massage shops and long-stay wellness retreats.
Phuket has a well-developed private healthcare sector serving both residents and a substantial medical-tourism trade. The main international-standard private hospitals are in and around Phuket Town, with clinics and smaller hospitals in Patong, Chalong and Thalang. Most run international departments with English-speaking staff, direct insurance billing and twenty-four hour emergency cover. Pharmacies are widespread and many medicines are available over the counter.
Dental and cosmetic clinics are a significant part of that trade, concentrated in Phuket Town and Patong, covering implants, orthodontics, dermatology and elective surgery at prices well below equivalent treatment in Europe or Australia.
On the beauty side, the range runs from hundred-baht street-front Thai massage and foot massage shops to full resort spas at the Bang Tao and Surin hotels. Nail bars, hairdressers and barbers are dense in every resort area and in the Old Town. Phuket also carries a large wellness and detox retreat sector, with multi-week programmes around Nai Harn, Rawai and the northwest coast, alongside the yoga studios at Kata and the fitness and Muay Thai camps in the south.
