It has two passenger terminals, an international terminal and a domestic terminal, connected along a single frontage road.
Ground transport is at the terminal kerb: metered taxis, app rides, the airport bus to Phuket Town and Patong, minibus transfers and the car and motorbike rental desks. Driving times vary widely with traffic and season, and the airport road can be slow through the Thalang junction in peak weeks.
The area immediately around the airport carries a cluster of transit hotels, guesthouses and restaurants aimed at early departures and late arrivals, plus a retail strip on the highway at Thalang. Nai Yang beach is around ten minutes south and Mai Khao runs north from the runway, so an airport-area stay does not have to mean an inland one. Most beach resorts on the west coast are between twenty minutes and an hour away by road.
