Above the scooter class, Phuket has a smaller pool of rental shops dealing in manual and big bikes: 150 to 300cc naked bikes for confident riders, and 500cc-plus machines for touring the mainland coast roads toward Phang Nga and Krabi. The big-bike specialists cluster around Chalong and Rawai, where the riding community is based.
Rates start around 500 baht a day for small manuals and climb past 2,000 for litre-class machines, with deposits to match. A motorcycle licence with an International Driving Permit is checked more strictly at this end of the market, and the better shops supply proper helmets, insurance documents and luggage racks for multi-day trips.
