Building height is low and the settlement is small, so it stays one of the calmer beaches within easy reach of the airport.
A single road runs behind the sand carrying a short row of restaurants, small hotels, massage shops and convenience stores. There is no nightlife strip and no large resort complex on the beachfront itself, though villa development has spread across the hillsides above the bay.
The rocky ends of the bay hold reef that gives some of the better shore snorkelling on this coast during the calm months. The coast road south towards Bang Tao passes the Nai Thon and Layan viewpoints, and north it runs into Sirinat National Park. The airport is around fifteen minutes away, making Nai Thon a common choice for first and last nights. High season runs November to April; the monsoon brings strong surf to this exposed stretch.
