Rassada Pier handles the scheduled ferry and speedboat services to Phi Phi Don, Krabi, Ao Nang, Ko Lanta and Ko Yao, and is the departure point for a large share of the island's day tours.

The pier area itself is functional rather than scenic: ticket offices, tour desks, a car park, luggage handling and a run of cafes and convenience stores serving departing passengers. Boats to Phi Phi generally leave through the morning, and the pier is at its busiest between eight and ten.

Behind the harbour, the district runs into the eastern edge of Phuket Town, with hotels aimed at early ferry departures, car and motorbike rental offices, and the marine businesses along the Sakdidet road. Nearby are the Royal Phuket Marina and Boat Lagoon further north, both with their own restaurant clusters. Phuket Town centre is around ten minutes west, and the airport roughly forty-five minutes north.
